Yogyakarta witnessed the inauguration of Dr.-Ing. Ilham Akbar Habibie as the Chairman of the Institution of Indonesian Engineers (PII) for the 2024-2027 period during the 23rd PII Congress held recently. Dr.-Ing. Ilham Habibie succeeded the previous Chairman, Dr. Ir. Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, after serving as Vice Chairman for the 2021-2024 period. Together with Prof. ATM as Vice Chairman, they bring a fresh vision to strengthen the role of engineers in both national and international development.

In his address, Dr.-Ing. Ilham Habibie emphasized the importance of creating high-quality job opportunities and enhancing PII’s contributions to various strategic projects, including the development of Indonesia’s new capital city (IKN). “I believe Indonesian engineers can make a significant impact in building a better future for the nation. We have a great responsibility to create jobs and sustainable solutions for future generations,” Dr.-Ing. Ilham stated. He also highlighted the importance of synergy between engineers, the government, and the industrial sector in supporting national strategic agendas such as the Asta Cita program, which involves various engineering disciplines..

The previous Chairman, Dr. Ir. Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, expressed his gratitude for the progress achieved by PII over the past three years. He underscored the collaboration between PII, the government, and the industry as the key to the success of various work programs, including support for national strategic agendas in energy and sustainable technology. Dr. Ir. Danis also emphasized that PII’s tradition of preparing leadership through the synergy of the Vice Chairman and Chairman has proven successful. “The next Chairman must continue the previous programs, especially in supporting the current government’s initiatives. Strengthening synergy with the government and other stakeholders is essential to address challenges in various sectors, including energy, food, and the development of IKN,” Dr. Ir. Danis remarked..

Furthermore, the Congress served as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among engineers from various sectors. Prof. ATM affirmed his commitment to creating adaptive and dignified governance within PII. In his address, he emphasized the importance of a humanistic approach and cross-sector collaboration to strengthen Indonesia’s engineering ecosystem. “We need to integrate technological innovation with cultural values and local wisdom to create more sustainable and impactful solutions,” stated Prof. ATM.

With this new leadership, it is hoped that PII will continue to innovate and strengthen the position of Indonesian engineers on the global stage.

Pada tanggal 26 Oktober 2023, Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE) resmi  meraih sertifikat Sistem Manajemen Mutu ISO 9001:2015, sebuah pencapaian yang menegaskan komitmen IABEE dalam memajukan kualitas pendidikan tinggi keteknikan dan komputing di Indonesia, melalui akreditasi program studi bertaraf internasional.

Sertifikat ISO 9001:2015 diberikan oleh TUV Rheinland Indonesia. Dengan demikian, IABEE dinyatakan telah memenuhi persyaratan sistem manajemen mutu yang memastikan layanan akreditasi program studi yang bermutu dan peningkatan mutu berkelanjutan dalam memenuhi harapan para pemangku kepentingan. Pencapaian ini menunjukkan keseriusan IABEE dalam menyelenggarakan proses evaluasi akreditasi yang transparan, akurat, dan konsisten.Langkah ini tidak hanya meningkatkan kepercayaan masyarakat terhadap lembaga akreditasi, tetapi juga memberikan dorongan bagi perguruan tinggi di Indonesia untuk terus meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan dalam mempersiapkan lulusan yang kompeten dan siap bersaing di panggung internasional.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Romli, IPU, selaku Ketua Komite Eksekutif IABEE, menyampaikan rasa syukur dan bangga atas pencapaian tersebut. Ia menegaskan bahwa sertifikasi ini akan mendorong IABEE untuk terus berkomitmen terhadap mutu akreditasi, peningkatan kualitas layanan dalam menjamin mutu pendidikan teknik dan komputing dan meningkatkan relevansi akreditasi untuk menghasilkan lulusan dengan kompetensi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan industri.
